ALL FIIINIIIISSSSHHHHHEEEEEDDD!!!

Through a lot of hard work and good team work, we are finally done with CASTLE ESCAPE!!!!! We added a lot of new things--on top of tiles, each player must avoid different obstacles on the board, including mountains, rivers, and stones. We have 2 little princess figures, and knights that add to the appearance of the game. We made a tile card and game board key to lay out the directions for each player, and worked on the specifics of our game play. After much editing, we came up with a final copy of our rules. The game looks great, and we are so excited to bring it to class to show everyone!!

CLOSE TO THE FINISH LINE

We now have all the materials to finish the game!! After meeting up, we finalized the game rules, the aesthetics, and the website. Everything will be ready to present on the final day of class!! Stephani was having a blast creating the box design on photo shop and it looks great. Pictures of everything will be up soon!! Thanks to everyone who has been following.

Change in the Game!!

Today our prototype was tested, and we found that some of the game design and rules need to be changed. People found that our game was too easy and needed to be more challenging. We decided that players should flip over every tile that they cross. The castle also needs to be made smaller, (maybe 6 by 6?) since the game play was too short. Our rules also need to be made clearer for other people to understand since there was some difficulty. Today we also discussed changing the story line, i.e. changing the princess to modern day heroine. A lot of work still needs to be done, but I'm sure our final decisions will be the right ones.

BRAND NEW IDEAS

We have come up with new ideas and rules for the prototype. We now have new factors to contribute to the outcome of the game including feasts, bombs, horses, catapults, villains, and princes that will either hurt you or help you to save the princess!! The prototype is due next week, so we should have pictures up soon of the early game design for "Castle Crusherr." Everything is going smoothly and ideas are flowing so we feel really hopeful about our new game!

KICKASS PRINCESS

So after much thought we have changed our game to a two player game with a grid of 20 by 20 inches. The purpose of the game is to move your princess out of your opponent's castle and back to your own castle on the opposite side of the board. While leaving the castle area, there will be knights randomly placed on the board to make it harder for the princess to escape their opponent's castle. You will be able to move either horizontally or vertically depending on which die you roll because we will have a vertical and horizontal die.
There will be tiles that you can place on your side of the grid to make it harder for the opposing player to reach their own castle. These tiles will have a variation of obstacles and help factors that will affect the princess' health or ability to move forward or backwards in the game. The tiles will play almost like scrabble tiles where you randomly pick a given amount of tiles and your opponent will not know what tiles you have. You will then strategically place the tiles on your side of the board to keep the opposing princess from her castle.
In the beginning of the game both princess' will start with full health and you will be given a life chart. Throughout the game your health can fluctuate depending on what tiles you land on, but to make it into your castle you must have adequate health. The first princess to make it back to her castle is the winner and has escaped being held hostage.

We have yet to come up with a name for our game, but we have a lot of ideas that we are working on currently. These are just some pictures of what we kind of want to see, but we will blog again later with original ideas and our further coming along.
